With typical picturesque Bavarian houses, quaint gardens and cute inns, Grainau doesn’t disappoint. It also happens to sit at the foot of Germany’s highest mountain, Zugspitze. Itinerary option
Day 1: Arrival day
Transfer from the airport to Grainau.
Day 2: Grainau
Get to know Grainau and walk to Garmisch, exploring the famous alpine resort town.
Day 3: Partnachklamm
Walk through the magnificent rock-hewn gorge of Partnachklamm.
Day 4: Zugspitze
Spend a day on Germany’s highest mountain: Zugspitze. To get to the top, you will take the Zugspitzbahn (an electric railcar), while enjoying wonderful views of the surrounding area.
Day 5: Mittenwald
Visit Mittenwald, a well-known health-resort and also famed for violin making. Ascend by cable car to Karwendel Mountain, offering exhilarating views.
Day 6: River rafting
Prepare for a day of action and fun! From Bad Toelz you will raft down River Isar.
Day 7: Alpine Meadow Hike
To start the hike you follow a forestry trail to Jenner, where you will take a cable car up to the summit. Continue walking through the beautiful meadow landscape.
Day 8: Berchtesgaden National Park
Make an excursion to Germany’s most beautiful national park where a park ranger will join you. The landscape is a contrast of lakes, limestone and Dolomite cliffs, meadows and mixed forests.
Day 9: Kehlsteinhaus – Eagle’s Nest
Today you walk up to Mt. Kehlstein, where Hitler’s men built a diplomatic meetinghouse. Apart from its iconic history, this peak stands as one of Germany’s most scenic spots.
Day 10: “Malerwinkel am Königssee”
Walk to Lake Königssee where you can enjoy a beautiful stroll along the lake shore or through the woods.
Day 11: Departure day
Transfer to the airport.
