Appenzell is, simply put, one of the most legendary towns in Switzerland. The centre is well-preserved with fine, painted wooden houses as well as several stone buildings that date from the 16th century, as does the town hall. Engelberg is the largest summer and winter resort in central Switzerland and offers endless activities. Surrounded by lush green Alpine meadows, snow-covered mountain tops, and crystal-clear mountain lakes, the region is just waiting to be explored.
